Introduction

The Grants are part of the Business Link Leadership and Management programme.

The Grants are on a "Pay and Reclaim" basis:

  1. The Customer applies to Business Link for a Grant
  2. Business Link decide the application and make a binding Grant offer
  3. The Customer pays KPI in full and attends the Training Course
  4. The Customer submits a Grant claim to Business Link
  5. Business Link pay the Grant to the Customer

Business Link and KPI are independent organisations with no connection. The Grant process is the responsibility of Business Link. The Training provision is the responsibility of KPI.

Business Link will provide a qualified and experienced Leadership & Management specialist adviser to help the Customer identify their own personal training and development requirements. As part of the application process, Business Link will provide the Customer with a complimentary, tailored Personal Development Plan.

In some regions Business Link has an Agent to administer the scheme: TCHC in the East of England and Exemplas in Yorkshire & Humber and Central London.

Process

KPI contact Customers to inform them of our Training services and the Grant funding available from Business Link.

KPI check if one of our Training courses matches the Customer’s business and personal development plans.

KPI make a provisional booking for the Customer on a date at a venue and complete a referral form with the Customer details and forward it to Business Link to begin the Grant application process.

Business Link contact the Customer to discuss the referral and use the details from the referral form to complete the Grant paperwork.

Business Link is an independent organisation with no connection to KPI and all Grant decisions are made by them.

Provided Business Link is satisfied they confirm Grant funding to the Customer.

The Customer pays the course fees in full in advance and KPI issue a VAT receipt and course joining instructions. We accept payment by Cheque, Credit or Debit card or PayPal.

The Customer attends the Training Course and at the end the Trainer gives the Customer a Certificate of training.

The Customer submits a Grant claim to Business Link using the Grant paperwork provided, the Payment receipt and the Certificate of training.

Business Link pays the Grant direct to the customer within 30 days.

Eligibility

Eligibility varies by Region; the following rules apply in most regions.

Grant funding is available to organisations that:

  • Are based in the Business Link region to which they are applying,
  • have not had the Grant (including Business Leader funding) previously,
  • have between 5 and 249 employees on the Payroll,
  • are independent businesses (not owned by a larger business),

Grant funding is available for individuals that are managing directors, owner managers, company directors or senior managers or part of the management team.

All training must have started and the grant claimed within 90 days of the grant being approved.

All grants are exclusive of VAT. In all cases Business Link make the decision on eligibility.

Amount

The rules vary from region to region.

There is a maximum contribution of £1,000 from Business Link.

The first £500 of Grant is available to managing directors, owner managers, and company directors and does not need to be matched.

A further grant of up to £500, which must be matched funded, is available to any senior manager or the management team e.g.

Awarding Body

The Business Link in each region awards the Grants.

Business Link provides independent training advice and determines eligibility.

The Customer chooses the training provider and development activity.
